Reducing Workplace Stress

Stress in the workplace often manifests itself as negativity, boredom, apathy, anger, or illness. Some stressors are: time deadlines, conflicts, environment, relationships, ambiguity, and heavy workloads.

 

Develop awareness

Observe: Your individual stress and stressors.

Educate: Seek counseling, take stress management classes, time management classes, and set goals.

Be proactive: Maintain healthy eating, sleeping, and exercise patterns.

Reduce stressors: Environmental, personal, expectations, and limitations.

Develop support systems: Establish relationships with mentors, colleagues, trusted and valued friends and family in the workplace, socially, professionally, and personally.

Maintain balance: Physical, mental, social/emotional, and spiritual.
